The Albemarle County Sheriff's Office Foundation
The Albemarle County Sheriff's Office Foundation consists of a group of local citizens committed to come together and support the Sheriff's Office and its many volunteer initiatives. The mission of the Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office Foundation is to generate support for the Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office programs deemed to promote public safety, law enforcement and general public welfare.
Gary was born and raised in a small town in Ohio. In the fall of 1992 he moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia as he began attending school at Eastern Mennonite University (EMU). In the Spring of 1996 Gary graduated from EMU and received his bachelors' degree in Sociology. In 2009 Gary went on to obtain a Master's degree in Business Administration from Averett University. Gary joined the University of Virginia in October 1999. Since joining the University of Virginia Gary has held several different roles to include; Director of the Executive Management Search Group, Director of HR Information management & technology and the Chief of Staff for the Vice President of HR. Presently Gary is the Manager of the HR Consulting Services division located within University Human Resources.
Now a resident of Fluvanna County, Gary enjoys spending his free time in the outdoors with his friends and family. As an avid outdoorsman Gary spends a great deal of time each fall hunting and fishing the Virginia Mountains.
Amy Wicks Horn
Amy Wicks-Horn has been the Executive Director at the Virginia Discovery Museum located on the Downtown Mall since January of 2011. Prior to her time with the museum she enjoyed her role as the Director of Annual Giving for University of Virginia Children's Hospital. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Political and Social Thought in 1992 and holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration with a focus in Non-Profit Managment from the University of Washington. Amy lives in the Charlottesville area with her husband Sean. They have three children and enjoy time with family, cooking and travel.
Kris is a Senior Video Producer for Darden Media at the Darden Graduate School of Business and has worked at the University of Virginia since 2000. Kris is sports fan and is a video freelancer with Virginia Athletics. As a resident for Greene County since 1999, she is an Officer of Election and a member of the Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline District.
Michael is a native of Charlottesville who served 26 years in law enforcement prior to his retirement as Chief of Police. For the past ten years he has held the position of Football Security Coordinator for the University of Virginia football team. He has remained active in the law enforcement community by serving on boards and committees at both the state and local level.
Angie Dempsey has over 15 years' experience in development and administration. She has been as a fundraiser at St. Anne's-Belfield School and at the University of Virginia. Her current position is Director of Development for the UVA School of Nursing. Angie is a volunteer with UVA Children's Hospital, Virginia Institute of Autism, and the Women's Four Miler. Angie is a graduate of Charlottesville High School. She has a B.S. in Business Administration and Management Information Systems from Old Dominion University and received her M.B.A. from Averett University in 2010.
David W. Way, CPA was born and raised in Albemarle County. He attended the University of Virginia, graduating from the McIntire School of Commerce in 1990. He returned to Albemarle County to practice public accounting in 1998. He currently resides in Fluvanna County. He is the owner/operator of Way & Company, PLC, a certified public accounting firm in Charlottesville. He has been an active supporter of Albemarle County Sheriff's Office programs for the past ten years. He currently serves as the Foundation Treasurer.
